Arcen is the tourist attraction of the Maasduinen. This former fortified town is beautifully situated between the Maas and the border with Germany. The remains of the toll gate "de Schanstoren" and the unfinished canal "de Fossa Eugeniana" on the border with Straelen, Germany, still remind us of this fortress history. Part of the canal, together with some jumps, can be explored during a nice walk. Touristic Arcen is a great base for many cycling and walking routes. The Limburg people love good food and a 'pilske' from time to time. In Arcen, you can enjoy mouth-watering gastronomy on one of the many terraces in the town center. Various regional products are prepared in a traditional and innovative way. Or would you rather stroll through the streets and along the Maas with an ice cream in your hand?
